My Boys with Simple Stories Year-o-Graphy

I love this photo of my husband and my son at the park taken in January. I wanted to create a clean and simple layout that really showcases the photo. I used Simple Stories Year-o-Graphy papers, stickers and embellishments, Bazzill Basics cardstock and an EK Success Notebook Punch. I cut the flowers, birds and tree from the papers and inked the edges for some definition. I think the Year-o-Graphy colours and theme with the out-doorsey feel really complement the photo creating a bit of whimsy.

The Explorer with Kaisercraft's Seaside

This layout is a great layout for using up scraps or using up papers from a 6" paper pad. I had some border strips left over from my Kaisercraft Seaside Collection as well as lots of paper from the matching 6" paper pad. I used Kraft coloured cardstock as the base for my layout as the colour is so similar to the sand in my pictures that it matched perfectly. I'm really in love with Kraft cardstock lately as it coordinates so well with so many products and colours.

I created 3 little embellishment clusters to create a visual triangle to help lead the eye through the layout. I found a few coloured buttons in my stash and punched a butterfly, a couple of hearts and a couple of stars from the matching papers to complete the clusters.

This was such a quick and easy layout to complete and I'm really happy with the clean uncluttered result.

Oh Boy!

The photo for this layout was taken on my birthday last year. We were trying to get a good photo of the kids and I but my son who was just over 3 at the time wasn't co-operating. Whenever we tried to get a photo of him he would pull a "frowney" face. It made it so difficult to get a good photo of him for quite a few months. It was quite funny when he first started doing it but it got frustrating very quickly.

I wanted to keep this layout quite simple and uncluttered. I used Basic Grey's Oliver Collection which I find such a great collection for scrapping photos of my son. I used two of the Take Note Diecuts but without the transparent overlays. I finished this layout quite quickly and kept thinking I wanted to add more but I really liked the simplicity and that helps keep the emphasis on the funny photo. I also used the arrows to draw attention to the journalling and my son's frowney face.

Pretty in Pink - Baby Layout

My daughter Rochelle was born in December 2010. I took these photos when she was 8 1/2 months old. I love the photos so much that I wanted to showcase them with a simple layout style that wouldn't detract from the photos. I challenged myself to create a layout using papers from a 6" Paper Pad and decided on an A4 layout as with a toddler and a baby in the house I don't have a lot of time to scrapbook nowadays and the smaller layout size is quicker to finish. :)

I decided on Kaisercraft's Bubblegum Hills 6" Paper Pad and created a simple frame with an aqua paper as the background and two bracket diecuts from the paper pad to frame my favourite photos. I printed directly onto the diecut at the bottom of the page with a script font just to record the important details.

Materials: Cardstock - sam & lucy; Chipboard numbers - American Crafts Thickers; Punch - Martha Stewart Butterfly; flower; button; Font - English.

Handmade Patchwork Heart Embellishment

I made this little patchwork heart embellishment to go with my layout about our visit to Lake Cathie one afternoon. I love this photo of my son and I taken by my husband just after we arrived at the Lake. I couldn't find an embellishment to go with the masculine feel of the page and decided to make my own. I tore up scraps of the papers I'd used in the layout and stuck them onto a neutral cardstock scrap. I then cut out the heart and inked the edge with a sponge dauber and brown ink - Versafine from memory. I was really happy with the result. This was a quick layout I designed to use up some left over scraps of paper.

A Visit to Santa

I had a lot of Kaisercraft Belle Papers left over from a couple of years ago so I was able to use them to get my Santa Photos scrapped pretty quickly and easily this year. I wanted to create a photo strip type layout but with my favourite photo printed larger to give it more emphasis.

I was really happy with my little embellishment cluster in the top left corner of my double layout. I cut the flowers out from the flocked pages in the 6x6" paper pad and the two scalloped paper strips also came from the paper pad. The wreath and file tab are from the matching diecuts in the collection. I created the wreath by cutting the centre of the diecut out with a circle cutter and I really loved the effect of being able to see through to the background paper.

Prairie Lane Layout

This was a layout I did a while ago using the Kaisercraft Prairie Lane Range. My son was being quite cheeky when we were away on holiday and I managed to catch this photo of him when he was playing around and actually being quite silly licking the glass coffee table in the apartment. He was about 18 months old at the time. I'd like to do another layout with the rest of the photos from the sequence showing the full story.

Materials: Kaisercraft Prairie Lane Papers, Diecuts, Wooden Flourish, Prima Felt Vine, Ribbon, Ink, Acetate, Computer Diecut (font Ballpark).
